Personally i use either my IPhone or I Pad as my handheld GPS.
Great maps and easy to use Navionics App
yeah ive got that on my phone but hard to see in waterproof case and i dont want to damage my phone with the saltwater
I use my iPhone as well but have it in a lifeproof case which is waterproof dustproof and after 6 months the polycarbonate screen is still easy to see they the lifeproof case is only available out of the states I believe it definitely works as I have tested it a number of times ....Matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......
I use a Garmin Gps72 which is waterproof and floats, or lately my Sony Ericson with the Navionics charts app. Both on my kayak

Garmin gpsmap 78 sc for me.
I also have an iphone/ipad with navionics but don't rate it as a long term proposition.
If I knew the garmin rhinos were going to be cheaper sooner I might have waited for one of them. Same gps platform but with a built in VHF as well. They are now the same price as what I paid for the 78 a couple of years ago.
i use a gpsmap78 Garmin, works good for me , easy to use ...
