Hey guys

There is not allot of structure on that reef anymore, I will tell you something you can catch there that not many people know about.............very large blue parrot fish...........you will only catch them on crabs.......i have seen them 17.5 kg caught on that reef...........you will need a very big hand line...... and bit of luck to turn them............not sure about night fishing for them.... I saw that 17.5 kg fish caught on easter holidays........... At this time of the year this is my opinion green island is best when sun is going down only around may .........peel is good june july..........august sept.........the best fish you will get is when the bay is brown from fresh water....... but early in the season like may unless the water is brown from fresh water you may only get bite periods of around 45 minutes............peel in june july can produce bites at random periods during the night and day...........low tide is good.
Thats great news , parrot would be in my top 3 of eating fish ,just love them ...now the trick is to get some crabs i think ...,,,mmmmmmm where do i get crabs .... i mean the ones for bait .....
Mate these are serious fish, if you dont have the right gear the will snap line hooks you name it............ive got them on but had no luck turning them........there are some spots in the rainbow channell that you get them as well.
Got the gear can get the crabs just don't have any marks.. Who is up for sharing????? Pm me have always wanted to land one of these giant parrots
i like the odds , got 2 overheads with 40lb braid , 2 with 60 lb braid and 2 with 80lb braid ,, suppose i start low and work my way up lol....got to have a go at it and a line or 2 out for the stray snaps too ....
z50man,
I did my first overnighter there a few weeks ago. I only have a 4.2m so it makes the weather even more important.
Despite the awesome weather reports, it blew up a bit about 3am and got real ugly (at least it felt like it). It's hard to judge in the dead of night.
I'm really keen to go again, but next time I'm wearing an inflatable life jacket ALL NIGHT.
where do you guys think the best ramp to go from for this trip, was thinking manly or wello point .
