I-pilot beeping drives me crazy...can it be turned down???

I am loving the ipilot with the Minn Kota but the thing is set to "beep" on many commands. It beeps really loudly , and feels even louder if there are other people fishing peacefully nearby.

The worst time is the "beep" for every half increment of speed...so for example to go from 0 to 5 is 10 loud beeps!!

I haven't used an electric motor before so this is all new to me and I cannot find a way to turn it down, can it be done? (I am going to resort to putting a felt muffler onto the speaker if I can't actually turn it down).

Anyone else have this issue?? Is there a way to turn it down?? Help

I found this 1st up when I did

"There are two different audio modes that can be switched between (mode 1 and 2). Mode 2 beeps in a variety of ways when a wide variety of things happen; mode 1 beeps under only a limited set of circumstances.


As far as I can tell, there is no user-controlled way to turn the sound off completely."

if its too loud your too old. crank up the stereo instead

funnies aside, my manual on page 34 and 35 shows you 2 audio modes. both as loud as each other but mode 1 beeps way less.

Yes I know..I posted 2 threads on the same day complaining about noise! Even I realised that was a sign of becoming old .

Yes I found that too...I'll experiment with it and I suspect that is the best I'll be able to do, so I'll definitely be sticking a felt pad on top of the speaker if I can't do better than that.

Open the controller up and give the beeper a good squeeze with a pair of pliers, thats it no more annoying beeps.

sadly we probably wont catch up out there tim. i have found snapper love acdc and led zep really loud lol. have also found i can get quite a wide berth at times too

There is a manual, and I turned my beep OFF after the first trip, drove me nuts, can't remember how I did, bit of oldtimers, ask a young bloke who uses one at your local supplier

OK, so I switched the audio setting to "setting 1" instead of "setting 2" and it is great (the manual even told me how to do it!!!!!!!!! who'd a thought it????.

Pretty much only beeps on startup now & was a delight to use in a peaceful morning's fishing today.

Have looked carefully, but really don't think there is any way of turning it off fully, but setting 1 is pretty perfect I think.
