    Re: fishing maroon dam

    g'day shubeej,

I was just out Maroon dam yesterday and spoke to the Maroon dam holiday camp owner. He was saying they have been catching red claw the size of tall beer bottles. Not sure they were caught on the bank. He also did mention that eels have been eating the red claw through the netting (mainly he leaves out over night when it happens )

As for landbased there is plenty of weed around the shoreline. I had to drive around abit too find a bank to be able to cast off. Perhaps it mite be pay to hire a canoe from the camping groups at Maroon dam???

I hope this helps and good luck
    cheers Brad.

Use rockmellon they can't resist it. Not much fun fishing for bass from the bank and most of the bass are very small. Best for bass are shrimp but getting the shrimp is another matter.

Cheers, we manage 1 red claw which is better than nothing. I also learnt abit from it too as it was my first time redclawing. Mainly what not to do. There are some companies that supply shrimp but keeping them alive can be an issue. I did get a couple of bass on my kayak and they were fun to bring in.
