    Not sure mate. Looks like it would eat coral though. I would have found out if it had ciguatera before i killed it.

    Is not the clearist photo, got a better one? How long is it? How deepa water did you catch it in?

    According to the photo and info given, 'Grants Guide' states 'This superb SUNRISE PERCH was taken at 50fathoms on DeepTempest Reef (Morton Is.) An excellent food fish! His specimen 480mm. So Im lead to believe itsa Sunrise Perch.

    Waterbouy It was 47cm came from 120m off caloundra.

    Teejay24 the fish came up dead from that depth which is why its eyes have popped out. My only other option was to throw it over and watch it float off. Is that what you would have done?

    Sorry mate, cant tell its eyes have popped. You made the right choice then. I was just meaning to check if it was poisonous before eating. Nice size bread board youve got there if the fish is nearly half metre. Gotta get me one o them.
    Google says harmful to humans but only grow to max 35cm, so id say well done you nailed a dinosaur!!
    Hopefully its as tasty as it looks!!!

    Looks a bit like a squirrel fish though eyes not big enuf maybe???
