Hi All,
Each year in October we have a group of off shore fisherman (approx 40) who make the treck to Fraser Island just off the southern Queensland coast and fish in the invatation only RED October competition, last October was my first invite to this wonderful comp and as I am the only rod builder in this group I decided that we should have a prepetual trophy for the largest Red Emperor caught during the comp which the winner gets to use during the comp in the folowing year and then passes it on to the new winner for the following year.
The winner gets his name and fish weight written in which is of course done by me. I did an extra long JTDS and made a marble spiral up the shaft which made room for the names to be written in. The shaft was donated by 1 of the fisherman who broke a high quality live fibre rod which made a perfect shaft and as my background is in the stainless steel welding buisness I made the hook and ferrel. Hope they like it.
Cheers

I love the gimbal still on it, for when you want to reallllly play out the gaffing procedures.
