Bass in Robina Lakes

Hi.
I'm looking for any info as to how to catch bass in the Robina Lakes system. I live quite close by and am keen to have a go.
I've heard whispers that there are a few fish around at the moment.
I have a good range of soft plastics for bream, flathead and trevally, and hard-bodied lures for the same.
Do Bass bite on these lures ?
Is there anywhere to launch a 3.7m tinny with 25hp motor into the lake.
I know its possible to come in through Boobegan Weir but I live near the IFS servo so would be a long way to go.
Are you even allowed to fish with motors, not electric?
I see jetskis and cruisers in the Eastern section of the lake

Be interesting if theres any left after the asians we saw netting the lake in the middle of the night over the last couple of nights. They even have maps of where there going to net in the lake... time to call fisheries i think.

Robina Lakes, Clear Island Waters are stocked by the ABA. Bass will take surface lures in the evening and early morning. Not sure about launching facilities, I don't think there are any, only access is for residents.

For years we have been trying to stop people from talking about this area for this very reason certain people will rape the area. i dont know why the moderators allow people to put threads about these areas on here . This area cannot sustain netting and will be all over in a few months if fisheries and the po[ice wont do anything about it maybe its time for us to do something about it

I think you mean that for years a certain few have tried to hide the fact that this public area is stocked with public funds. They tried to keep it as their private fishery. Some even had keys to a gov't gate to gain access where others couldn't. If people see people netting, call the authorities, don't try to keep secret squirrel about a fishery that is now well known thinking it will do some good. More anglers fishing means more eyes watching for wrongdoers. If you see it, call the hotline, that is what it is for.

Do what Dale said and call the fisheries, why sit back and complain that someone might find your secret spot............Sorry I have been fishing it for 18 years ! look at Google and do your home work.What creek does it hold back ?

We stock Bass for the general public to enjoy and many many families and kayakers enjoy the place. Get off ya arse and report this shit and can you give me times and places, Email me the number plates and I will go look over the situation a couple of nights, I live very close to the system.

You can put a boat in at the council ramp on the road that leads to the stadium(Cheltanham drive i think).Lot of weed though unless the council has been through.Have caught plenty of bass in that system.

The moderators allow it because its a fishing forum. Are you upset someone might fish in your little secret spot? You will find very few if any one on here that condones the rape and pillage of any spot legally or illegally and if you look there are a lot of people saying to contact fisheries and providing the appropriate information. Instead of jumping up and down and crying that others might know about a location be constructive and pro active. And no i dont mean take matters into your own hands. Have you contacted fisheries,Have you taken video and photographic evidence? Do these things and complain like a banshee to the authorities,Dont get upset at the moderators of a fishing forum because someone might learn or ask a question for some help.

Actually the lakes are not stocked with public funds - Australian Bass Association stocks this waterway (with a permit from Fisheries) and the funds for stocking are raised by members. ABA does not stop or have any control over who does or does not fish the system and many anglers benefit from this fishery in the middle of the Gold Coast. Gold Coast City Council controls who has boating access to the lake, there are no public ramps, and Qld Government controls the fishery, anyone can fish it from the shore or by kayak, canoe or any dinghy they can manhandle to the water. There are areas of the system where powered vessels are not permitted, these are well signed. There is no stocked impoundment permit required as most other SEQ impoundments but the closed season for bass is in place for this waterway from June1 to August 31 even though it is stocked.
Anyone who is seen fishing in there illegally (and boating illegally - all lakes are a 6 knot zone) should call the Boating & Fisheries hotline.

As for what lures etc. the gear you use for bream and the smaller lures you use for flathead will do the job. Also smaller spinnerbaits are good.
