hi all. following yesterdays adventure at mud i headed up there again today. left wello at 7am and headed for se corner where i caught yesterday. did a couple of drifts for zip so headed to nw side to say hi to mossy and jack. didn't see them so set up a drift. threw my light setup out whilst i re-rigged my deadstick. before i finished rigging up the light setup started screaming away. knew it was a good one very quickly and spent a good ten minutes getting him back to the boat. 10-15 feet away i see colour and it was an 80+ specimen. a moment later - nothing - threw the hook. absolutely spewin. those that work at the port may have heard my displeasure. anyways, i call mossy to see where he is and what do you know - he's down the south end looking for me. 5 minutes later he was back up the nw side. customary chin wag and one of mossy's home brewed ginger beers (bloody good too) and we get back into the drifts. about mid tide a few sweeties come on the chew. landed plenty of small ones and managed a 37cm which went into the box. just before 12 i moved a bit wider out and first cast am on again and a decent fish too. he gave a good account of himself and there was no way he was throwing the hook. i had him by the pectoral fin right through the meaty bit. 66cm. made me feel a bit better putting a good one in the box even if it was the smaller one. plenty of fish for tea tomorrow. have included yesterdays fish too as it was a dodgy pic.
cheers
