    Catch of the day.

    Hi guys n gals,
I went off the Ballina wall a few days back and was fishing with Stonecold and chucking S.P's around in the last of the dirty water runoff from all the rain we had.
Spent a fruitless few hours and not getting too much action when I got smacked up close to the rocks.
Anyway it sat there for a second or two shaking its head then slowly swam off and it seemed like a huge jew. Ran a short distance, shook its head and went for another run and shook its head then sat out the front of the wall swimming around slowly in the middle of a big wash. It didnt swim too far and between the two of us passing the rod around to get it over the rocks we got it into a position where it started to swim to one side of the wall and Stonecold manned the gaff getting ready for a Big jew to surface.
I mentioned that it was doing everything a bigger jew should and it seemed like a big fish with the weight behind it.
We were waiting for a big flash of silver to hit the surface in the murky water when..Click image for larger version.

I have been fishing for years for jew and to me it was a big jew in every respect as to its behaviour.
You just never can tell sometimes.

A few of those about! I saw one about 1.5 to 2 times bigger than that on the south wall on Sunday morning. Just a shame the usual surfie crew weren't there Let's just say I have had my fair share of 'run-ins' with them! Sometimes they think they own the water I tell you!

    Thanks for the report.

So much better going home stinking of jew than a smelly old noah.

This time katrina reckoned I had been rolling in roadkill on the way home

If you have a look at the head on pic I swear it was smiling, probly at Stonecold and sizing him up.
A bit of fun and it swam off when I tossed it back.

They have their place in the system.

There have been big numbers of them hanging around the bar and if you want to get in there and swim with them, go for it and good luck!

    cheers,Steve.

    Yeah great fun murf.
Thought I had jew of the year until it stuck its head up.
I have been having a bit more luck with the jew than Stonecold and I swear I heard him snicker when the noah popped up.
And then there was the jew I got outside fishing last week in his boat, but we wont go there

Yeah, stonecold and myself had a minor debate about who was going in to the business end to get my jighead back.
Nice looking fish Scott but it had some serious hardware in its mouth.
It was in good condition and looked like it had been doing extremely well with the mullet munching!.
    cheers

    Re: Catch of the day.

I tell you the jew you got last week on the 32's was not only blind but had a severe case of alzhiemers and whatever else you'd like to throw in there.....what sort of respectable jew eats a bit of skanky mullet an inch square?...thats right a blind one!...ohh that smells like mullet i'll open my mouth...ooops thats sharp.....I was smiling till I realised I'd have to gaff it!
