if you are willing to travel let me know, I manage a Mitsubishi Service Department in Brisbane. That price is over the top, as most service Depts are on the Coast

Mate - I recommend Redlands 4WD Centre at Steel St Capalaba. Ask for Peter - the owner. Very honest operator and knows whats what. I recently sent a friend with a Patrol there who traveled a long way and he was wrapped. I know of his clients travelling from Toowoomba to see him.

I worked with a guy that was quoted an over the top price to get the brakes done by the dealer on his vx commodore. I told him to ring a local place that only does brakes and they did it at half the price. I have noticed with my Ranger that the dealers are excessively expensive and dishonest also. I take mine to a local mechanic who is usually a few hundred cheaper and very reliable and trustworthy. Both of my cars will be service by them, the wife's car is yet to top 20,000k's and has been returned to the dealer for warranty issues but I will be avoiding them like the plague in the future.

    Hi Myway,

It takes approx 2 hours to complete the Valve Clearances on the 2.5L Diesel (4D56). Once the engine Cools down, The valve clearnces should be done every 30000km at the Scheduled Service, the book time for the service is 4.4 Hours

    Cheers

Thats a pretty hefty service every 30k. According to the service manual in my PJ Ranger the clearances were supposed to be done at 20k. I booked it in and checked it when I got home and noticed no hand prints on the engine cover. I rang the service department and asked how they did it without removing the engine cover only to be told it is no longer done at 20k only at 120k, I rang several Ford and Mazda dealers and was told the same thing. It did say on the service report that it was done and I was still charged over $600 for a service that only comprised of new oil and filter new fuel filter and repacking front wheel bearings which I later discovered wasn't done either when grease started leaking out from under the wheel centre cap.
