    Re: building a new boat

Looking forward to seeing this progress. Built a hydro approx 30 years ago and have wanted to build another boat since. This one looks very nice http://www.bowdidgemarinedesigns.com...nament_21.html

If possible, could you please post some pics of the jig and others that show your progress as you go along. I'm sure it would get a lot of interest here.

    Re: building a new boat

Have been watching a lot of the builds on that site progress. Some interesting designs there - one very similar to the extended hartley i am doing up in terms of concept. Loving how my wooden boat rides - I would love to try one of these one day (maybe as a father son project when the little fella gets a bit older.....(he just turned one..............)

I do like the 21 footer he's just released (or maybe the upcoming 24 foot version of it) - seem similar to a contender in design.

Was a member of the forum (they've moved it 3 or 4 times recently) but got a message saying i couldn't be a member anymore as they wanted it only for people who were actually building their boats.......(given i found his site looking up info to help me with my rebuild and liked what i saw and joined as a potential future customer - I thought it was an interesting way to build the business and encourage new builders........

Anyhow - will be keen to hear how the build goes and what the boat performs like once you're done!

Hi there Moffy, you dont have to be building a boat to join, you just cant look until you have joined, i joined and was not building or had any plans yet when it was attached to messingabout forum ,its to sort out the spammers i think ,the new forum is good if your thinking of building a boat you get to see how things get done and the build pics take the mystery out of things when you can see it and some good info to be had there too ,if you rejoin you will see that pro tournament 21 being built right now, the guy is up to 100hours on it now and looking real nice, cheers Chris

    Re: building a new boat

I started drawing out the stringers for it today and the foredeck while i had 2 sheets together, its turning out to be a simple job to do, the plans are just easey to understand and read which makes for a fast draw up now that im in the grove of doing things.

    Re: building a new boat

Well guys with all the wet weather the only thing ie been doing is joining up pieces of ply both side you just do one side at the time i just use a belt sander to take a sheath of ply out so its nice and level,i just use a rubber scaper to push the air and excess epoxy out with a bit of peel ply over the top and then put some plastic over that and place some ply with weights on top.
