I know a guy who bought a US boat and was limited to a 19 foot model as the bigger ones were not an easy tow here - ie they allow wider boats to be towed in US as a matter of course where the wider boats can be towed here with extra complications flags wide load sign etc.
Cheers

it sure is nice thou

His budget is $30 k and as i stated at the start a boat similar to the 575 Cruise Craft.
What are his chances not good i think.
Darren has a option for him.
Troy
Troy,
i imported my 2002WA Trophy Pro (21ft) and is a very very good sea boat and has been in plenty of big water off moreton Is. its got great fuel capacity at 330l.
i am thinking of getting a slightly bigger trailerable boat to cater for the growing family (when we head to Peel or Bribie for the day) i have been looking at the 23ft Striper - but there is no long kill tanks for my favourite fish - Spainards, Cobia and dolphin fish. (unless you get the 26ft) - this is my current dilemma (which bigger boat)
But i cant go past the value for money on the Trophy Pro. Its got a great looking shear line and the 150hp pushes it upto 36kts. Be prepared to spend a bit on your electrics when you get it back though. i've seen plenty of US boats with tiny crappy sounders/GPS. Sea Fox have bad names in the US. steer clear of them. PS: I have also spoken to the Customer care centre in the US for my Trophy for various minor things (ie small parts and general knowledge, and their customer service has been great)
Crusie craft are one of may favourite boats (id love a 685) but so very expensive!
cheers drew
make sure your trailer is Aus compliant and try to get a multi-roller trailer.

Hey Drew, how about the 2302 Trophy? I'm a fan of the Trophys too, even though I've never fished out of one. They seem very well set up without the glaring problems a lot of Yanky boats have ( anchoring setups and those dicky stern seatboxes most of them have).
Speaking of USA stuff, a mate is in the market for a new trailer for his 23 footer. Try $19k for a Mackay Alloy jobbie or $6k for an equivilant Easy Loader in usa (in Aus spec). BIG difference
h
i totally agree FisHard,
you just have to take the risk of importing by knowing each step of the process and keeping abreast of every stakeholder in the process of getting your boat or trailer over from the US. Its still a bit confusing and nerve racking along the way, but if it pays off, you save the bucks.
Is that price from Ezyloader or a dealer?Only reason I ask is because I got one custom made by them just over a year ago for my 23 footer, aluminium I beam, with 4 wheel electric over hyd disk brakes, aus spec lights and the rest of the stuff you need for Australian road compliance and it was only $4,500 direct from the factory. Gee the prices are moving now they've clicked on to our market and our prices.
Also interested why your recommending a mulit roller trailer Drew?
