Re: Not a good look for fisho's

I read it on news.com.au this morning and left a comment that did not get published.
Apparently they do not want the guys to be seen as wrong doers or whatever, looking for the shark menace story I think.
Look at the shark story related links on thier site, purely disgusting.

Sure the fisherman should be charged if he killed a Great White.
But I would like the hear the REAL story not some dribble the news reporter offers us..

That story sounds so blown out it needs a cartoon script to go with it..

    Cheers

Nice little emotive beat-up, whatever happened.
Give the bunny-huggers a gee-up anyway, maybe help lift them from their comas lol.............

Re: Not a good look for fisho's

"Young children were crying and their parents looked on in horror as fishermen bludgeoned to death the baby shark at Sussex Inlet, News Ltd reported." If this is true then perhaps the parents are incompetent..any decent parent would remove their child from something that distresses them.

"Ms Faehrmann says research into shark behaviour proves the marine icons are not a threat to humans." perhaps the moronic MP should tell that to the families of those that have been killed recently by sharks.

Is there one single active brain cell in the entire Greens Party?

The story and photo is in todays Daily Telegraph (Sydney) ...... it's not a good look

apparently it is being investigated by fisheries

    Chris
Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

Re: Not a good look for fisho's

Whilst I dont condone this sort of behavior in any way shape or form,I also dont support the hysterical killing of animals that have attacked a human within their environment,be it sharks, crocodiles and as recently reported even kangaroos and an emu.But these killings are official and as such are legal and therefore acceptable--arent they????

Re: Not a good look for fisho's

I saw the story on news.com.au and it had the pic. 2 minutes of googling had me convinced it was a mako and not a great white.

Still no excuse but if it was indeed killed as theyt say but most journos wont let the facts get in the way of a good story

I heard this same story on the way home on Triple J news and they mentioned something about it being hit by a boat propellor before the fishermen got a hold of it.

Re: Not a good look for fisho's

Ms Faehrmann says research into shark behaviour proves the marine icons are not a threat to humans.
"We've gone past the old days of hysteria about the dangers of sharks," she said.

I'll give the Greens a $100 donation if she goes and swims in the shark tank at Seaworld.$200 is she has a bleedy nose

In this day and age of everyone having a phone with a camera I wonder why there were no pictures?

Deep cuts mentioned in the story do sound like a prop strike.

It would be interesting to know the full true story and if what they say happened actually happened then I don't think any of us would mind the full force of the law coming down on the people involved.

What would you do if you came across a baby shark or any other animal that's been extremely badly injured by a prop strike??
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

Re: Not a good look for fisho's

As sensational as the quotes and anecdotes may be in this news article, these snapper heads have not done recreational anglers any favours whatsoever by killing a juvenile shark and then dragging it up a boat ramp and displaying it for all the world to see. I personally hope they get the book thrown at them with the maximum fine if it is properly identified to be a great white and not a mako.

Good question that i don't know the answer to, maybe call coast guard on the radio and ask them for advice. Dragging it onto a boat ramp and beating it to death in front of families and children would not be at the top of my list however.

The images sure do not look like a prop strike, maybe either from body clubbing it or wild gaff shots certainly not a prop strike.

0-10 for the reporter who asked as many people to put there feet in the photo as possibe,Dont condone these actions to this shark, but also think the media are scum for dramatising as usual.wonder if the kids were still " crying there eyes out" while the shot was taken,i dont think so.

Re: Not a good look for fisho's

Thanks for the picture link Jack.

    Naaaa. That's definitely not on.
Who-ever did that need a flogging the same as what they gave that shark. I don't care if it was a Mako or Great White...it should never have happened.
What is wrong with some people??
I bet they've never sat down and watched these magnificent animals swimming about.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good
