    Stucture Scan Sounder Advice

Gday all, im just chasing a little feedback from those out there who are using structure scan (Side Scan) sounders. I have a Lowrance HDS 5x that is capable of side scan, it will cost around $650 to set up. I need a different transducer and a black box i believe. Just wondering if those who have been using this technology for a while think that it is worth the investment?
    Thanks Ryno

Depends on where you fish and for what species. Have it setup on my boat and its is worth every cent.

Yeah your right, i should have specified what I intend to use it for. Im talking about mostly for creeks and rivers, occasionally the dams for barra and bass etc.

Do a google search for "Lowrance Structure Scan Video" heaps of info out there and this will also help if you just drop the video part off for other info.

Is your HDS 5 a series one or the new series two. That will also make a difference. Their is also a software update due out for series one very shortly.
