    peel bag out

hi all. left for peel at 11 last night after netting a few gar and herring off the jetty. conditions were perfect and the bay was mirror-like. got to south west rocks to be greeted by ...... noone. not a boat for miles. settled in and dropped 2 baits out. both went off simultaneously about 15 minutes later. 1 shark and 1 baited. fished till 5 am for an xos cattie and another shark and numerous bite offs (more sharks), along with a nice tiger squid. squid went on live and somehow i fell asleep only to wake up at 7. same prawn on 1 line and live squid happily surfing out the back on the other. pulled the pin and went for a plastics sesh amongst the artificials on the western side. first drift a 43cm cod hit the box and a 36 snap takes the zman and as it was gut hooked went in the box. next drift saw a 48 hit the ice. next drift and a 58 joins it. i then rigged up a leader with 2 jigs and fished a zman on the bottom with a gulp curl tail 2 foot above it. first bit of action saw the gulp go missing. next event was a 45 on the zman which hit the box to make the bag. a couple more hits (dont know which) and a while later the gulp produces a 20cm fish. very quiet thereafter with very few bites and only small fish to be found. managed to offload the 36 to a couple of boys on the anchor expecting to pick up 1 more reasonable snap but it wasn't to be. persisted until 1 before giving in. concluded that both gulps and zmans catch fish and reckon it was pretty much even (how diplomatic).

    cheers
    davo

probably why i dont get any there. usually do fish the northern end alleycat. (closer to wello).like to work the go slow area. lot of traffic goes past those northern markers these days not to mention the hordes that stop there to fish.

mbn - minnowz and prawnz did the job for the zmans and 4" pink/white curltails for the gulps.

mossy - not worried about ol dick tracey mate. he has problems getting his gear out of his box (you didn't hear it from me tho). the blokes i gave the little one to spent hours drowning stinky stuff for no result (just like i did during the night).

    go the placcys

Playing around my neck of the woods eh. I do pretty well there on the 3 inch prawns berkleys and on dusk the lime tigers and after dusk nucks but getting more and more interested in these shad tail swiming dont work at all but wind plastics as they have pulled some good fish of late and i never got a touch on them years ago when i tried but wont know if i dont try it eh. Why ting got his on a 140 one and was tea bagging them up from below boat and boy did they work. Went around to take yah fishing yesterday in mine but you had found the water already. Was gonne take yah out to chase spotties in the calm 30 plus nott winds. All i got was a huge hammer head and the large livies have all but gone so no livies to be found out there. But they are around as got 1 day before. DD.....
