hi Ian yer i went though the mhx list but no 7ft spinners above the sb812blend and have thought about it but thought it just might be a little light for dam barra would you use a MB mhx for a spinner????,if this guy wanted a over head it would have been a easy to pick a good blank up for what weight he wants to throw around.

    Hi Chis 69
I find recommending Blanks a difficalt thing to do
It's a personal preference to Blank action ..what suits one dosent suit another
I have no knowledge of what a Barra Blank is suppose to do, as for a a soft plastic rod for snapper ..and that covers the 6-10 kg range which at the moment in time I am a big fan of the St Croix range
And in the Spanish Mackeral .....and bottom bashing up 1770 way I'm abig fan of the Phenix Hybrid range
This is due to trying different blanks over the years and finding ones that suit my particular style of fishing
These Blanks arn't cheap ...but when ya got a fish of a life time on ,ya want everything going for ya ..
So hopefully a Barra fisher will come on board and give you his thoughts

Hi Willo yer i no what you mean its hard when you have not used or built a certan blank for a specific job and no what it will do or not do, i allways look at what im going to use a blank for and go by there tip size and butt diamiter and cast weights fish to be targeted and blank weight, i use the stcroix sc3 for light spinners and love them and can recommend them as ive use them and have made a few for others that are very happy and yes had a look at the phenix ranger and could not see what i was looking for in the bigger weight rod of the stcroix range ,it would have been a lot better if he said a overhead and thought that with the growing trend towards spinners for barra dam use with plasicts.... someone...... might have made a few by now, i no that what he real should do just go out and buy a Egrell S10 and have suggested he have a look, if he want to pay for the good one out of a shop.

Unless things have changed, the gun plastic in the impoundments is a 100 -125 mm slick rig
    I would have a look at a samurai Nv8 if he's locked into a 7ft rod
The NV7 is a kick arse barra stick but only 6ft
I have no experience with the new premium range but I've heard good things about thrm
    Cheers,
    Owen

Gday Chris; any of the MHX mag bass blanks will happily build into a spinning rod, I reckon. I've got a MHX784 that I use with a twinpower c3000...works fine. Good luck with the hunt. Oh yeah, and those MHX hi-mods are a good deal.
