How will the bay be tomorrow?

    Attachment 75210

OK, I have no experience with Morten Bay, tomorrow (Wed) will be my first time out there. I'm not concerned about safety (Well I am of course, all the time, but not asking about safety in this post) but am looking for some experienced commentators on comfort in the bay tomorrow. I plan on taking the wife (First time on the boat even though I have had it for over 3 years ), the kids & granny from Bris river to Tangalooma for a day trip. If its too bumpy I'll never hear the end of it.....that will be it for family boating.

My plan is too leave early and come back early to beat any afternoon seabreeze that may come up (Leave TL by 2pm?). Have studied the chart and plan on running out through the Bris river channel markers, up to inner beacon, accross to 4 beacons and then accross to TL. Or I might go straight accross to Moreton southern end and hug the coast up to TL so the kids might be able to see some animals (Taking care to watch out for sand spits and speed regualtions)

She's a 5.8M F/G centre consul which I have had out in some reasonbably rough conditions which it handles well, including dozens of bar crossings (Just pointing out I have a bit of boating experience), so all I'm after is some comments on the conditions in the bay from a 'comfort for passangers' point of view, especially since I will have the kids, granny and a sea sick prone missus all aboard!

    As always, thanks!

I would leave from Raby Bay even though its further, because you can cut up the inside of the island, With the Easterly winds you would be sheltered most of the way.
But its totally up to your call on the day, if you think its a bit iffy then DON'T GO !!

    Cheers

If you want to hug Moreton Is, be aware of the Go Slow areas. I can't help you with the conditions as I haven't been in the bay for months.

    Have a great day out.

So what your saying is ...if its too rough they will never ask to come out in the boat again and you will have to either fish with your mates or go out alone...........

I'd be praying to huey to blow me up a shocking trip home

Crunchy it will be a nice day out there mate, if it was blowing a Northerly I would suck and see but predominantly Easterly winds will make it good. Go and have a good day as it will get better as the day goes on. Tangalooma will be great tomorrow. I am heading offshore myself through south passage bar with a few boats.

ps check wind in the morning before you head to reconfirm nothing over 10 knots, you will get a good feel for what it will be like once your at the end of the leads, make a final call there. If its not 100% head into the river and go see the city

Tomorrow is looking ok to go over and your boat will be fine. We are going over to have a fish and a swim if no work emergencies come up, leaving from Manly a bit later around 9. Get your wife to take a seasick pill the night before just in case.

heading to tangas tomorrow as well with the kids. agree with everything above but will add the bay can turn nasty pretty quickly. when we take our kids mates out we pre-warn them that it could get a little bumpy at anytime and reckon it's helped calm a situation or two. regards, tony.

Captain Loops is on the water tomorrow early. My boat is a 4.4 metre stessl striker runabout and gets pounded a bit. I reckon it should be ok touch wood. There is a good dip in the wind in the morning at the about 8am. Best it has been since last Tuesday. I am hoping for some smooth sailing, and reckon you will have no dramas in your boat. Have a good day.
