Rigging a transducer to a Minn Kota
Wondering what the best way is? As you can see in the photo I've attached , I've fixed the transducer with a large stainless hose clamp which is fine.
The problem is the cable running to the transducer. The Minn kota is an i-pilot. I need that slack in the cable to be able to use the virtual anchor feature otherwise the motor can turn 360' whilest your busy fishing and wrap up the cable with enough tension to break it.. I've already broken one and being an SI transducer they aren't cheap to replace.
Has any one else had this problem? and what was your solution?
I've noticed there is a groove in the shaft where you could run the cable through but this would involve cutting the cable. I tried to reconnect the cable on the transducer it broke the first time and wasn't able to get it to read properly.

Re: Rigging a transducer to a Minn Kota
I use a split plastic cable cover from the tranny up to the head of my minn-kota, saved the wire from damage a few times now. Also attached a thick rubber band to the tranny cable and then tied it to the minn-kotta shaft just below the head unit and left plenty of loose tranny cable above the bubber band. This way it can stretch or even break free if it needs to, but isn't that slack that it will make contact with the prop. If you need me to I'll take some pics and post them.
Cheers
