    Spotty Spin Blank

I am looking at putting together a rod for throwing small metals (10-20gms) at Spotties and small tuna. Looking at something between 7' and 8' and will be fishing with either 3000 or 4000 sized spin reels and around the 12lb mark in braid. Casting distance is important as is a bit of toughness as I'm not easy on gear.
I have looked at quite a few blank specs and its hard to choose without seeing the blanks in your hands. I probably don't want to go much over the $200 mark all up with components (any advice in this area appreciated as well).

    Cheers

Neil, calstar gf700xl would be a good option on the value end of the market but a nice rod. I have one and i would class it on the heavier side of a 6kg spin. I think there is also a an xxl so maybe the lighter one would be the go for you if your running 12 pound. Plenty of other fancier blanks out there but i recon the old calstar is good for the budget and bloody tough. Samurai s008 or one of those new fancier slightly lighter samurai models would also fit the bill but i've busted 2 s008's in the past cuple of years so i'm over samurai.

    Yeh Scott....Interesting
I went of Samuri Blanks for the same reason..I have been on Boats and seen two get busted ..They where a NV 9 and a NV10.....High sticking might of been a slight factor .....but wasnt extreme
