Thread: Offshore Wide Bay Bar

    Offshore Wide Bay Bar

I am heading to Carlo point caravan park at Rainbow Beach on the second week in Jan, and if weather permits keen to get offshore of the wide bay bar and double island Point.

I have crossed the bar plenty of times, but always steaming north or headed home so I haven't fished this area much before. Can those that fish this area provide me some general areas and general gps marks to start offshore reef fishing? I am not after your secret spots, just a few starter marks to kick things off and I can sound around from there. I have a 6m boat. Any help appreciated. PM me if that is preferred.

Not taking the boat but going to take the ski.

    Hopefully get out on it.

Staying in cabin at rainbow beach car park. Stayed there plenty times and love it.

Cabins are great and priced well and walk to clubs and pub.

Thanks Tickle, send me a PM when you can. Happy to provide a few marks back if I find any good ones.

I will also report on the caravan park. I have stayed there a few times before, but due to the size of the old tinny was restricted to tin can bay, but with the new rig should be able to sneak offshore if weather permits. Caravan park has been pretty good in the past - basic facilities, a small playground for the kids, but best of all it is a stones trow from the boat ramp.

Anyone else willing to help out with a few spots to have a fish?

    Thanks
