I spent a week early December 2011 at Baffle Bobs Campground with a Kimberley Karavan our dogs and our tinny.
Had to work hard at catching size male mudcrabs but did get a few. Also good fishing on live bait near an underwater rock wall for Grunter. (nice eating).
It is a good place to get away from it all with lots of kangaroos (plague proportions) birds, snakes, and not too many people.
The campground is pretty relaxed with new management Roger and his wife. Campfires allowed and large open grassed spaces. The pool wasn't open which was a disapointment (I felt that should have been displayed on the website). Apparently the golf course is not happening either, but the owners say they plan on changing all that over the next 12 months.
There are nice places and esturies nearby as well.
Baffle Creek itself is very muddy (which gets all over you when you have to get out and pull the tinny off the multitude of mud banks which you sink in). Pretty yuk.
It's a very confusing estury and we got lost a few times. (not too lost).
We went on a boat day trip out to Lady Musgrave Island from 1170 which is always awesome.
Went down and watched the turtles lay their eggs at Mon Repos, kinda nice.
It was an interesting trip. I felt bad when my puppy broke loose and ran all over the park chasing birds in the air, I got yelled at by the oners wife for that one. (puppy had fun though).
Would I go back? Well if I lived in Bundaberg yes, but there is so much to do and so many places to go.
So maybee I will try something different again next time. The mud there really was a bit much!
Had just come back from Thailand and WOW Australia is just a small drop in the ocean of the world.
Thailand is fantastic, friendly people and so cheap. Eating seafood and drinking beer at restaurants for a few dollars is pretty good also.
Well I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts.
