    GT's off the rocks

Been havin some fun land based catching GT's on slugs and reefies on sp's. Last trip was catch and release, but my phone went flat and i was disappointed to have no pics. This arve was blowing a stiff SE, but went with my boys anyway and hooked up at the base of the ledge to a nice fish on my 60g gillies with 14lb braid. He tried to cut me off on numerous bombies and at one stage i had to back off big time as he went around one. Luck was on my side and his, as i got my pic and he got to swim free. I was pretty stoked to catch him especially with my boys watching and learning. Was also nice to have the ledge to myself, in fact the hole stretch of coastline, sure beats 1770.

I hear you Nathan, I don't go to 1770 unless the forecast is great for the next few days and the water is clean. There is plenty of spots along the coast, but like 1770, a bit of luck and timing is involved to into get the fish. Where i am is a bit further than 1770, so it has been good to get into the fish; makes the trip worthwhile. Plus good to see some of the family. The winds are dropping off on tuesday here so hoping to get out in the boat and have a go. There is a spot that has xos GT's, cobes, queenies, spanish.... on poppers, if we can get there by boat.
