Took the kids out for a quck fish in the Bay before it got to ugly this morning. We hit the water at 7am and got to the mark for the 8.12 low. After rigging up for the little weapons we shot the baits over the side and were rewarded with a double hookup as soon as the baits hit the bottom. My daughter was no match for what was on the other end and my son,Cayden, was trying to subdue what he had hooked.I took over Ashlyns rod and called it for a shark and Caydens looked the same,we both fought for around 10mins and after Ash's shark was released Cayden got his boatside and it was also released. Both were Blacktip whalers at around 1.0m.I rerigged once again and back up to the mark for another drop.Cayden dropped to bottom and before Ashlyns hit the bottom he was on,up comes a nice squire at 59cm.High fives and into the ice he goes.Meanwhile Ash yells out aaaarrrgh and looks like another shark,I take over and thankfully with the utmost skill I drop it.
We never anchored today as it was too lumpy so back up for another drift and Cayden feeds another shark as does Ash,I thought about keeping one but as I am going fishing on Sunday both were released.By this stage the wind was increasing and as it was blowing a stiff 15-18knt already we pulled the pin.Not a bad way to kill a couple of hours and dinner was taken care of.Bait was Pillies rigged on 5/0 gangs and 5-8kg spin sticks.Jim
