    Fishing Dirty Water

Looking to get out quiet a bit through the holidays and i understand that there is going to be a fair possibility that the water will be rain effected. I fish the Maroochy River and at the moment the water is quiet dirty. Does the water being a stained brown effect fishing. I use brighter plastics like the Gulp satay chicken Jerk shads. Would you recommend a darker plastic like 4" Pumkinseed Powerbait? Is it different to fishing clean water? Is it better? Darker or lighter plastics to be used? Will the fish be in different sections of the water column and at different times? Please sum this up for me.

Dunno about the esteries, but generally the water remains dirtier. I rekon when the water is dirty, while trolling for macks (etc) you stand less of a chance. I rekon those pelagics have good vision and can't see the baits in the gruby water. IMHO

Throw a few livies out into deep holes that rivers run into, might get a Jew, but not sure if it is Jew season now they might be a bit scarce.

I fish towards the mouth of the river throwing around the noticeable dirty water lines and eddies they create mostly fishing a hightide. I find fishing deep and slow is also effective depending how on fresh it actually is. It is still worth a crack they might be few or fair between but fish will still be there somewhere

I fished yesterday and the water was pretty clean on the incoming at Mooloolah river up untill the dirty water line, no idea what the roochy is like. But a week should clean it up pretty nicely not crystal clear but would be salty. Depends where you plan on wanting cleaned up though

I fished the Pine today and the water wasn't too bad at all. Didn't seem to affect the fish - got a few quality bream and a nice lizard. Actually I prefer a bit of discolouration in the water when chasing bream. Fishing is much more difficult when the water is ultra-clear - the fish can see you and your gear!
