Those little Grassies are fun. They certainly pull har when they get around the 35cm mark
Wasn't sure if I was going to head out or not as I was nearly forced to do yard work after mentioning to the wife a mate couldn't come fishing because he was doing chores around the house. Thankfully I was saved when Davo - netmaker txt me to see if I was heading out so I was going solo suggested he come along as deckie.
Headed over to mud wasn't as bad as I thought a bit breezey but swell was better than the last few weekends. Hit up mossy's reef and a few other patches of rubble. Was a few smaller squire around with the biggest say 30 or so cm's but kept us entertained with jokes of getting the net and should we chase this one with the lecky. Davo was refusing to try one of my plastics and persisted to use everything in his tacklebox.
With there being little boats out we drifted a few different spots with a few bumps and knocks along the way with the occasional smaller squire coming into the boat with the grassies being the ones to smash my plastics, they have a different way of hitting the plastic than other fish so it took me a while to perfect the hit. Boated a few grassies around the 25 - 35 mark the biggest.
All in all a great morning out with a mate plenty of laughs, plenty of fish caught not many big ones, a spat hook on something good, bitten through on something else plenty of cast/line fails we had plenty of fun pulling knots from our gear. hahaha cheers to davo for saving me from the yard work.
So for the lack of photo's was too busy talking rubbish and fishing to remember the camera shots.

hey mate, thanks again for the outing. was a lot of fun despite the bigger fish pooping the party. least it wasn't a donut outing with a couple of legals caught - broken the curse at last anyway. (my only legal was a flounder) cant say we didn't try with 7 hours of casting. weather was a treat tho. also good to see the water looking better.
do it again soon
cheers
fishing's as simple as 3 P's - patience, perserverance and PLASTIC!
Sounds ike a top day out fellas! Always good to have a few laughs while you fish. Looked like very nice conditions too. Very jealous! It is -3C here and snowing. Oh well only 17 days to go and I am back into 'em!!
Keep the reports comin'! Helps me with the drab weather here!
sounds like I missed a nice day! I was busy mowing and shovelling dirt and stones.
I think we were fishing in same area yesterday morning...
Finally got my boredom after throw about 30 under szie squire, grassie...
Only bagged nice tuskie and cod, but being at the water beats the house chores...
Looking at the mask on Mossy you guys were still hiding from the donut inspectors
Headed down to Atkinson's on thu the most amazing thing was a dolphin turned up and was trying rub some line off his tail on the anchor rope.
After putting a show on for 15min he then jumped over the bow of the boat gave us a flick of the tail then shot through very impresive had a good day even with no fish !
cheers
Dick
davo - your always welcome mate good to have a laugh be on the water and enjoy the great weather ohh and catching a fish is a bonus.
funchy - Will try and keep you excited with the reports mate but its getting harder to find a snapper these days, I don't think I would do to well at -3 degrees I will leave that to you. Should come out for a fish when your back mate.
DT - glad to see my mate flipper came to say hi, I sent him over to your boat as the cheque you gave me the other week for gps marks bounced. hahahah mate we were glad to keep the donuts away for a change. I think as soon as the cheque clears you and the better half will be catching fish in no time.
Tight lines - MoSsY
