    Re: which blank

    Hey Ian,

Maybe a Phenix Ultra MBX (UMBX 700H)? It's rated 10-20lbs with a fast action. The other option would be the UMBX 700XH that is rated 12-30lbs with and x-fast action.

I've got UMBX on order at the moment - great blanks.

Mudhole.com. The blanks aren't cheap, approx $140 USD before postage, but you do get what you pay for.

    Re: which blank

    Hi Ian
As of yet I have not tried the Phenix in the 6-8 kg range for spinning but if anything likr there other Blanks will be excellent
But what I have been using and love are the St Croix Blanks for my 10-20 lb soft plastics
There are 3 blanks here I have tried and can recomend
My favorite is the St Croix SCIV Inshore 4SW70MHF..but not sure if still available
    Next................... SC111 Inshore 3SW70MHF
    Next............. SC11 Inshore 2SW70MHF
Have fished all three of these Blanks and it will take some doing to move me away from them
Anyway Ian just my personal thoughts
    Cheers Willo

    Re: which blank

What about the Samurai S008? When I'm confident enough I was looking at a 7 foot rod just like Ian is to build from scratch and sell off to fund my rod building hobby. The Samurai was what I was going to get.
Will watch this thread with interest.

    Graham,

You are a component whore. You are the only guy I know that possibaly has more stuff than mudhole.

    Re: which blank

I hope he's not a 'component whore'. Those rod blanks would really hurt.....

I just got in the UMBX 700L (4-10lb rated) and it's similar style to the samurai 201, except that it's slimmer, lighter, probably stronger, and cheaper. Can't go wrong there. Pity it's going have to wait until the new year to be built.

    Re: which blank

    I would recommend a few blanks here if I can chime in;

    1. Samurai premium SPSN502-2C (two piece). Heaps of grunt and really nice folding tip for SP (15-25lb) or the 402 (10-20lb).
    2. UC-USA704 (6kg) or a 705 (8kg) from United Composites. Great blanks - also a UC70XH X-fast 6-8kg.

The dual helix construction of the UC-USA (the old GUSA) makes for incredible wall strength and the uni directional weave increases the lifting power. My absolute favorites.

    Re: which blank

    Stuart,
IMMMMMM you are right about that.
    A; albagraph 5
B; Lamiglass 10-20 very nice even as a baitcaster
    C ;Samurai
I like San Qua sorry St croix but the loomis mbr844 12-20 GLX is my next toy with gold cermets . I also have a few sets of cermets for a 7 ft left over size 30 -7. HEHEHEH .
D; Lamiglas 7ft6' 12 -25. This blank has pulled in 15kg gt's at hinchinbrook.Have 6 left but looks like they are all sold.
E; This is a sweet blank everone i have shown wants one Lamiglas Iandian River sjr 844 supposed to be 10-18 but i think it is a bit less but gorgeous.I will thry and post the 1 i just finished with gold cermets and raptor reel seat.
HMMM have to check out the rod rack.
Ithink i might try the new phenix k series 10-30 bass rod as a spin. I find mbr rods are better spin rods then spin blanks are.Ther action is faster and crisper.
Just a little food for thought Graham
Ps ; One day im going bto learn how to post phots
