Malby, plastics were the go. Squidgey fish head jig 28gm #6/0. I'm only a learner, normally attach braid straight to mono, some say not good, but i have used it a lot but this time I used a swivel with a spider loop through the swivel eye with an overhand loop with hitch, sounds dodgey I know, a bit out of the fishing book and a bit from youtube. 30lb Fins braid with 50lb Rovex mono, same knot with perfection loop onto jighead (before attaching jighead was going to use bait). Used a wooden file handle with a tappered grove in it (from a pipe cutter) to wrap around the line to tension and test the knots. Like i said the set up looked sus, but it did the job ok. the fight lasted 42 minutes and we were dragged about 750m, new rod and reel so was not sure how much to load up, the set up could have lasted all day I think.

Thats A Pretty Good Effort On 30lb Spin Gear mate,
i normally chase them on 40lb and 55lb Overheads and i have Lost more than i can count, I picked up 41kg fish 2yrs Back and we Backed up hard on it for 1hr 15mins on 40lb , But Chasing them on 55lb Overheads Ect We have been knocking them over in 15-20mins, But it does mean occasionally you Gaff a Pretty Green Fish to put in the Boat,

Good Stuff On the Capture tho...

    Cheers
