Moreton Wide Thurs 1 Dec 2011

Just wondering if anyone is planning to head out wide of the cape on Thursday. Just looking at the weather and looks like a beaut day but don't like the idea of getting stuck alone out there with the late arvo / evening forecast.

Boat has been out of the water for 6 months but with the Blues on fire cant pass up the chance to have a go at em.

looks can be deceiving, you have 25 to 30kn pushing in behind that small window of good weather. i know i wouldnt want to be caught in it.

lol i have to keep telling my self this cause i just canned a trip out my self and im sort of regreating it. BUGGER.

i hope for your sake it holds to b an awsome day.

Hi JP, I am 50/50 at the moment. Long wet trip home if it arrives early.
The thought of getting a tow back in from that far out in 30knots. Scary!
Wont make up my mind till the 3am weather update. Early start and will probably be all tucked up underneath the cape by midday-1pm.

Coming up from the south so should get a bit of warning from those that ventured out from down that way. And if it turns out to be a good day i'll think of ya

Monitor ch 82 and if it comes from the south, the guys fishing off the goldy will know all about it first.

Maybe I am a wimp, but based on the forecast, I know where I wouldn't be going tomorrow................outside wide or anywhere offshore.

I'd give it a crack in close but wouldn't be venturing out wide. But thats just me. Good luck with it mate. Hope you nail a blue or two.

Decided to play it safe. Will venture out from Mooloolaba early, muck around the 12 mile area, head to Wide Cal, following sea on the way home.
Thats if the 3am report is still good.

now thats just rubbing salt into the wound, they were my exact plans. only thing is ive come home in 25kn winds from out there and lets just say "land sweet land".
sometimes going for a fish just aint worth it...

It's 4:30am looking outside and a beautiful windless morning. We pulled the pin Short day, risky forecast and a motor that has not had a run for awhile (running a bit rough at idle). That and a 50 minute drive home towing a big boat in stormy conditions

You did the right thing IN - stick to a safe day and a few boats about when you don't have complete absolute confidence in the outfit right now or the weather.

Good call - there are always more days to come when you are safe - there can be no more days to come if it all goes to hell - as it easily does out there.

No one would be happy to hitch a boat to the back of theirs if they feel more at risk in dangerous conditions.
