With the constant northerlies for the past few weeks I've not bothered to try the Pine much (and when I did I only got a few average fish each time), but with the change last Thursday and a bit of rain I thought there was a chance the bream would have improved. Launched at 5.00 a.m. and got some live herring to see if I could find a lizard around the bottom of the tide. After about an hour and a half without a touch on the live baits I gave up and went looking for the bream on the rise. very slow at first but they came on quite well towards the top of the tide. Was surprised when I quit about midday to find that I had seventeen keepers - my guess was about ten - and I released another eight unders and marginals. The most encouraging thing was the quality of the fish with about half over 30cm and the best four about 34cm. Made for a pretty nice morning's work!
