I am about to order a furuno 585 and a thru hull transducer. Can anyone recommend what degrees tilt and best position for the transducer on a formula 233.

mount them in the bilge, are you just getting one?not sure if you can run a hf/lf set up on the 585,grand marlin would be the man to answer.you can get the ss264 kit with 20 degree tilt ,id be guessing that one if your going to run hf /lf set up if just a single then a b260.

Thanks Opti, forgot to mention that my 233 is sterndrive. Will mounting in bilge cause interference issues, cheers simon

Re: Thru hull transducer for 233
hi Simon
Ive just put the 1kw tilted element airmar brass thru-hull in mine and it states it suits 15-24degree hulls, mounting it in the bilge with your stern-drive wont be a problem as Ive fitted them in other stern-drive boats before and never had a problem. ill locate the model number of my transducer and let you know.

Re: Thru hull transducer for 233
as jim said the stern drive wont cause interference, just make sure before you drill the hole that you can reach it on the inside to do up the nut.just work out weather you want to use a hf and lf set up or just a single unit.

low freq transducer gives you a narrow ,but detailed beam, and high freq gives you a broad less detailed beam.depending on the depth il run both on a split screen and then il zoom in on the low freq to get better detail.basically giving the fish now where to hide.have a look in my wet facing transducers thread ,ive got dome pics in there
