Automatic message updates - or whatever you call it

I don't have a smart phone, don't even like like it when the mobile rings, in fact was ready to throw a bloke off the train today because all he did was talk on his mobile (numerous calls) for the 1.5 hours of the trip but the question is:
"How does everyone get regular upates on changes to regulations, whether they be to changes to maritime navigation aids, changes to fishing regs etc as recently happened to the fin cutting of coral fin fishes. Ausfish is a great source and I find it has all the info albeit after the fact. Do I need to get smarter and buy one of those gadgets, why can't I rely on a text message as I seem to get plenty of those from the Telcos and Woolies and every one else.

So what I am proposing is a sticky thread which provides links or whatever it is called to get us dinosaurs into the 21st century so that we can get these notices as soon as possible as I do check my emails several time a day. After all I was out there cutting fins when I didn't need to be and getting spiked for my trouble.

Thanks Mike, that is one I already had but I didnt think it gave updates on fishing rules and regs, this isone site that seems to require me to re establish on a regular basis, I suspect it has something to do with my new PC. I did like my old one better as it was slower and gave me time to think

I think it is my PC because when I read your post I only got the first bit but when I posted the reply I see there is a second link.
