    Furuno FCV-585 fishfinder

    I have a question or maybe 3..

If I import a Furuno FCV-585 from the states can I hook it up to my Lowrance HDS10, which I want to use just as a GPS ??? will Geo-Fencing (?) effect the Furuno.

Oh and the HDS10 was bought in Australia and has a Platium+ Navionics card in it.

    Cheers

Yes you can hook it up to the HDS 10, via nmea 0183, however marks are not sent from the furuno to the lowrance. Marks are stored in the furuno, and you can only store 10 marks, you can get the from the furuno and add them later. Geofencing only affects the HDS 10.

    Honda.

Thanks for the information, I just now need to get my tax sorted and drop a few hints to the better half as to my Christmas Present !!
I found one in the states with a 1kw Transducer for just over $2000 delivered, which I think is a pretty good deal

It is still pretty handy to do. This is what I do. If you notice a bump or a school of fish or whatever and you missed putting them straight into the plotter I hit mark on the Furuno then scroll the cursor to where you want the mark as the screen is frozen and then hit mark again and it displays the Lat and Long on the Furuno screen. I then manually go into the plotter and enter the numbers. Lowrance is easy as you Waypoint Waypoint and you will only have the decimals to change just a small bit.

Can I ask where you're getting the 585 from??
