Only one keeper from Mud this morning!

Ran across to Mud at about 4.30 this morning hoping for a few snaps. Caught heaps of squire, plus a few grassies, tuskies, bream, tarwhine and the odd grinner - but not a legal fish amongst them. Luckily I did manage one legal fish which made the trip worthwhile. Went 70cm and 5.0kg.

    Nice catch! Well done!

When did all the action happen, please? After sun-up?

    John,

I think I saw you do a loop past me while I was anchored off the wreck past the highway. I got some livies and tried a few spots upstream of the bridge but except for sharks (I assume because as soon as they would hook up they would cut me off) I didn't have much luck. Headed back to the Hornibrook but the wind was already up - uncomfortable and no flatties.

Spent the rest of the morning trying to find these elusive whiting - again no good.

I did get 3 nice sandies from the pots so all was not lost, and that is a very nice nice estuary cod you got.

Not sure about next week, depends on work.

Yes I did run up as far as the north and south Pine junction, Dave. It would have been about 10.15 or thereabouts, but I didn't recognise your boat - have you got a new one?

I actually caught the cod about 5.30 Charlie, and spent the next 4 hours catching rubbish. I got a couple of squire about 30cm but most of them were closer to 20cm. I fished both on the drift and at anchor with a heavy berley trail but nothing seemed to make any difference.

Same boat. I thought it was you but at the time I was mucking round with what I think was a shark and by the time it had bitten me off you had gone.

Interesting that you were getting bitten off there Dave. I've live baited against the wreck quite a bit and I've never caught a shark there, but I have caught quite a few cod, which will cut you off on the wreck if you give them half a chance. You've got to get them out and away from the structure to have a chance of landing them.
