Battery position on 400 Hornet Trophy for Minn Kota Bow mount

Morning all, just after a bit of advice or even some pics of where other people have mounted their batteries for a bow mount on a 400 Hornet Trophy? It's a fairly small boat, it does have a battery well in the middle of the floor but this is quite small and currently houses the starting battery (which also runs the sounder and bait tank pump). It wouldn't suit a larger battery and I want to keep the battery for the electric separate anyway. I am also finding battery choice a bit overwhelming as well as there are so many options out there but AGM look to be the way to go if you can afford one. Any advice or photos of other battery mounts would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Heath

hows going Heath,I have a 4m trophy and I replaced my start battery when it died with a 120amp hr agm battery(alco) and it fits nicely in the old start battery spot.I havent had any dramas yet, it starts my 40hp honda and runs all the usual electrics I like this setup as I will troll with the electric for a few hours and then move so the boat alternator puts some charge back in the battery ,agm batteries are supposed to charge up quicker (less resistance then normal wet cell batteries), only thing are might do is maybe get small agm battery for my hds 5 sounder to keep the sounder curcuit separate to look after the sounder the voltage on the sounder drops sometimes when you give the minn kota 50 pound full throttle cheers Yamp

i bought a ritar 100amp hr agm battery from alco. They were the cheapest i could find at the time. make sure you get new stock though. date of manu is embossed as a date on the top of the battery. very small. mine was two months old so i was pretty happy. should last much longer than standard wet cell so in the long run if you look after it. sorry cant help on the mounting position.

Another vote for the one battery. I have a 100ah battery and run the 55lb min kota and crank the 40 hp etec from the same battery. Have not had a drama as yet. I also run 2 sounders + pumps/lights etc. I think as long as your outboard has a good alternator and you have the option to pull start it if you flatten the battery then stick with one, it saves $$ and wieight. If you intend to to do a lot of electic work then a battery box on the deck for those days may suffice.

Thanks for the feed back, I had thought of running one battery if I could find a decent amp hour capacity that would fit.

Guru, how many hours would you say you get as we also have the 55lb MK? I think we would use it mostly with spot lock and working some edges occasionally that sort of thing. Most of our fishing sessions only go for a max of around 5 hours and we wouldn't be using for the entire time. I was also thinking of getting a 120ah battery if I can find one that fits the battery well.

Cheers for the replies, can't wait to get it installed and use it!
