Solve one problem, create another in reel DIY maintenance
I try to DYI everything I can.........
Just freed up a ss bearing in my Pelagic XPRO400 baitcaster ..... works good but casts funny, overruns and birdnest. Used to cast well.
Decided to open it up and found I must have lost one of the weights that act as a brake when casting.
Any I cut 2X 4mm pieces of a chubachub lollie stick.
It's working perfectly on another old baitcaster.....
Handy to do a fix quickly.
Test it out tomorrow....................

I always pull apart reels on a sheet.
The worst thing is those little springs that flick out.

Mate I find that if a bearing was seized and you freed it up then you do really need to replace that bearing because no matter how much oil or grease you put into it it will eventually let you down and become noisey.

The test didn't go to well. I need some other little weighs....
Cost $24 plus $24 postage,,, funny how the postage is so outrageous from china and HK.
Anyway , I'll just keep it going............
Those chuckachubs didn't work..... have to look for some other material.
I'm going to use it .............

50 bucks is a lot to pay for a couple of brake blocks maybe you can get some from alternative source ie:abu i have a few kicking around maybe the will fit check it out and i can fix you up with some need to know quantity 2 or 4 they are made from some sort of bakelite and also have small plastic ones witch would resemble your chuppachup.otherwise install a mag brake as long as the spool is alloy.i've done this to most of my reels and is the best way to brake a reel.

Hi hanger,
sorry I meant the reel was $50 total, a Pelagic, that's why I was making the parts myself..\I made some out of ball point pen inner.
