    Unhappy Require help please

I've attempted to do a dragon scale wrap on a new blank using fishhawk black metallic A thread. The underwrap is 10kg mono fishing line.
The rod is 30mm tapering to 25mm over the wrap area.Prior to finish being being applied the dragon scale effect was excellent but after applying finish the effect was gone
    What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the tip.I used Fishhawk pale blue metallic A thread and as you said -Bingo! Prior to that I had decided it was me and I had already started another type of wrap.I wonder what brand of metallic black thread would work.
    Thanks again

I did a black looking Dragon scale a while back and I used ...Guderod Metalic Pewter.. to get the Black look in the scales

The dragon scale doesn't work well with very dark colours as it relies on a "shadow" effect.
i.e. You get different colours because the thread is on different angles to the light.
Once you put the epoxy on, the refraction changes and you lose teh effect on dark colours.
JT has noted the same issue in his testing when he came up with teh technique.
