    Harrys this weekend

    Hi guys,

Will be heading to Harry Atkinson for the first time this weekend. Plan is to get there Saturday arvo and stay out over night. I have a question about the anchor I should be using over there. Currently I only have the plough type but should I be using the one designed for reefs? Thanks for advice in advance.

what ever anchor u are using have in mind you will lose it
I lost few types of a anchor out there
but I would putt away plough anchor, and have go with reef anchor as they are much cheaper if you lose one or two

    good luck and tight lines

    Re: Harrys this weekend

you have bigtide flow on saturday night so i wouldnt trust a reef anchor (wouldnt trust it at night in any tide really) dont want to wake up 40k off straddie eh....or bumping into a charterboat....what charterboat ?

ive done several overnights there and yeah i lost 1 anchor (think the rope/chain tangled round some pipeson new structure from anchoring too close) but if you use a sandanchor rigged with cable ties you should be ok about 40 meters off the new structures.... remember you will swing round a couple of times overnight

youll pick up the structures really easy on a sounder if you work on the gps points on the government site...

id get there early arvo and grab some live whiting &or pike in the rouse first (legal size if summers)

might head out myself yet so if you see an old green 1/2 cab with ausfish stickers wave n say hi....

    hope this helps
    Cheers Chris

I lost an anchor there too but more expensive was the 8 plait rope so that trip cost me $400 to replace.
