I often wonder..trailer boats are getting longer but the beam stays under the legal limit..something has to give sooner or later...the longer the boat gets the beam should increase also in accordance with the length. Being of limited intellectual ability in boat design it just does not seem relevant to me to keep getting 'em longer but maintaining the beam in the trailerable limits. Surely length + beam is a factor in maintaining stability both under way and at rest..unless you are desiging an offshore racing hull.

I should add..this would apply to both monos and cat hulls.
175k is way off the mark lads reckon you can deal one up with electonics for under 140k no probs
with a set of 140 Hondas

I think by the time you were finished it would wind up more than that. I have no doubt that 140's would be a sufficient powerplant but electronics and stuff costs lots if you want them to be decent. I would be interested to see what you got for sub 140k to get an idea.. A very nice boat but surely they would have a hard top option

ah yes - definetly a lot of non cat owners here in reply - i bought the 2010 markham and its one fantastic rig for practibility and performance.
costing in total $120,000 fitted out with gps, sounder, alloy trailer radios, registered.
nothing but a great boat - huge deck space , plenty of shade under the canopy - top boat and great value IMG_6748_2.jpeg

Think you would have to add more to the 140k as I could not see 140's pushing that thing!!!140's are just enough for my KC2400 and that looks a lot more boat!!

Regarding price and HP firstly price as mentioned is very close to the mark with standard electronics.
You can (enclosed cab) get a patrol cab currently for 149K and re Hp that should read 150 Hondas and plenty of em
have this power plant and more than enuff!! The asymetric hulls are very quick on the plane !!

I like the hardtop.. Im wondering what the fitted cost might be of a similar structure to my 1851wa Striper????? Obviously a set of clears around the hardtop would enclose it ...The way my boat is set up at the moment id have to get a stand alone structure for a set of rocket launches further clutering a fairly small rear deck ..maybee not the cost efective way to go ..buut i like the idea of just attaching the holders to the hardtop.

sorry to hijack the thread for a second..Bogger..fitting stand alone rocket launcher to your boat does not clutter anything

    Nathan,

I have fished on KC boats for over 20 years and I can assure you they do need Hp to push them along. You simply cant say because your cat needs X amount of hp that the dominator will need more because its a bit longer. Take the Coastal cats for example, a good freind of mine had a 7 meter model then extended that by 1 meter and only needed 140s. Before the extension he had 115s and it went great. All cats are not made equal mate.

fair enough if that is what you reckon..I would dispute that all day long. never even noticed the rocket launcher overhead.

The bimini cover i have is bolted to the cabin wall so i figure bolting more structure onto it will just look a bit crappy ..maybee you are right as far as it dosnt take to much space to have a upright bolted onto a boat ..but in this case there is already a upright where 1 would logicaly put such a structure.Therfore my way of thinking involves instead of having 2 uprights ...i could have just 1 ...the hardtop .
