Very good .......... Terns & mutton birds are the bain of all floatliners / cubers - gee I hate those little buggers when they swim down 30ft to grab your bait !

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

Nagg - The worst thing is the big one was biting the back of the boat so he was hard to unhook but he got what he wanted my bait (little bugger)

Man your not wrong there Nagg.. cubing for yellowfin down off Narooma, the siberian mutton birds used to be so ravenous you couldnt get a bait past them even with the biggest lump of lead in the boat attached to your bait. extremely frustrating...
dont knock on deaths door... ring the doorbell and run... death hates that!!

The mutton birds migrate once a year and many don't make it from starvation, no wonder the dive 30ft for a feed.

Remember they come all the way from Siberia/Russia/Alaska and by the time they get here they are pretty short on petrol.

What's wrong with you blokes - nothing quite like a bit of fresh salt + pepper seagull

Good looking catch, the jewies look great but those feathered suckers must be a bugger to fillet.

Have caught them in a cast net whilst after prawns. They learn to stay still so no harm is done to the bird or net

Yep I have the same trouble when I'm setting out floaters for spotty's ect. Then it came too me...These hungry bugger's hate NOISE, I mean really loud ear shattering Noise.

So saying that, here's my way around it. When your out and these hungry deep divers are going for your bait. Let loose with one of those hand held sirens. you know, the ones that some work sites use as as smoko sirens or blowers.

Just aim the can at your target and blast away as they fly away..., It's safe and no damage is done. If it's a constant thing wear some ear plugs too dampen the racket. Sometimes all I've had to do is just aim the can and they get the message.

You can by these hand held sirens at most hardware stores or safety shop's. And they're cheap.

    just a thought.
    cheers,
    Viper.

Funna as boys. I bumped into a family out at beacons that had the same lond haired chiwawa and the odds of that must be rare but there you go. He freaks out when a fish hits the deck but loves his chair to watch the dolphins and birds but you gotter watch those bigger birds they will take the little bugger away. My cattle dog never came fishing as multing on carpet would be to much and his balance wasnt the best. DD.....
