    Flathead

Well a few weeks ago I put a post up asking what everyone uses these days to catch Flathead (thanks for all the advice) so on Friday I went to BCF and found a little combo it was a Shimano Sahara 702sp 2-5kg rod with a Shimano Symetre 2500 reel and I put 8kg braid on. I went out today down the Pin with Mick from the Gem Bait and Tackle and for the first time only used SP all day, I stuck with the 5' nuk chook and 3/8 jig head. We only fished one and a half hours either side of the high tide I ended up with 3 under size flathead and one at 58cm.

Nice work - try dropping the jighead weight a little you may get a few more

8kg braid on a 2500 Symetre is really heavy, suggest trying 3kg and you will cast a lot further and catch more fish. The lighter gear the better. Worth a try.
    Cheers.
