    Which guide

    Hi all.
Anyone had any experience with these type of frames? I was looking at the Titanium for the corrosion resistance. Is the frame type a personal chocie thing or is one stronger than the other? I'm leaning towards the TLVSG as they look slightly lower profile and the double frame all the way to teh foot looks stronger.

By the way my test rod is done and waiting to be coated. Made a ton of mistakes and it looks pretty ordinary but it's ok for a first try. Will post some pics soon.

    Re: Which guide

I use the TLVSG a fair bit. Either orr wil be good mate, but dont think that just because its Titanium it wont turn green.
If you leave your hook on one of th eguides then the guide will start to turn green because of the disimiler metals.
The titanium will always go first because its the weaker material. If you you cut your hooks off our just put them on the reel then the guides will last a liftime.
When ever using single foot guides its important to lock the guide with thread by wrapping the thread around the guide foot 2 or 3 times before coating.
I have seen stacks of rods over the years where the single foot guide has pulled out. Some call it the forhan lock but I and others have bene doing this for 20 years and more.
If you have a look on Mudhole or somthing like that you will see what I mean.

Great info Stu. I looked it up and will be doing that lock. Thanks for the dissimilar metals info too. I'll have a hook keeper on the rod anyway but will make sure anyone using the rod uses it!!
Lets hope the aussie dollar comes good but, they are not cheap.

    Yeh Mark
just to give you another option......LOL
I have built a couple of 8 -10 kg Spin rods using these Titanium guides.and been two years now and no compaints with them so far and been getting a flogging on the snapper ,and are cheaper than the Fuji....Probably the Fuji have a slighly better finish on them but ..Fuji still No 1 but these for the price run a close second
Orr yeh but stick with Fuji tips dont like there tips much ..too bulky

mate I would also like to add that cleaning your rod with warm soapy water then rinsing the rod with warm water after every trip will also ensure your guides are in pristine condition
