How/When to use easy rigs?

A while ago I bought some easy rigs (plastic slider with a clip thingies) on a whim ... seemed like a good idea at the time like most tackle purchases

Anyhow, does anybody use these on a regular basis? I tried a couple times using it for bottom bashing but it wasn't too successful.

hey work good for stuff like red emperor which like a bait very close to the bottom
I put them straight above the hook with a swivel as a stopper about a metre up the leader so the bait can move a bit in the current and only move so far from the lead but still be close to the bottom

OK thanks. So you have the easy rig on a 1m leader (swivels at either end) in between the hooks and the main line? Sounds like a plan

hey lounge lizard. I use ez rigs everytime i go out. yep....ez rig/swivel/leader (the longer the better.)and then hooks. I'm not sure where you are, but in Vic This rig is pretty much used by everyone here to catch snapper and gummies.
Got a gummy last weekend using this rig.
Just make sure when your sinker hits the bottom, you pull the line tight to make sure there is no slack in the line. (making sure the ez rig has slid down hard up against the swivel.) Hope this helps.

I saw the bloke on IFish using them in Arno Bay on snapper . He had the ezyrig running between the hook and a big swivel on about a Metre of trace.But the sinker was also tied to about a metre of line running off the ezyrig clip. It was an interesting setup and they were catching plenty.

Cheers guys, will give it go next time I'm out. I was also thinking of maybe using a short length of lighter line to tie the sinker to the easy rig. That way if the sinker gets stuck you lose only the sinker not the whole rig
