    Question Weird outboard damage. What's the story ??

    Hi Guys

    Popped the cowling today and found this damage on the starter motor cover.

    I've never noticed it before ... motor is turning over/starting fine.

    Any idea's ? Weird stuff !

    It's 2006 Johnson 115hp 2 stroke. Only has 80hrs on it.

    Agreed heavy impact damage tool box or similar! been serviced lately?

    Loose fastener or similar underneath got caught between the mechanism and the cover?

    Looks to me like the impact was on the inside of the cover bursting it outwards.

    Thanks Guys .. just checked with previous owner who claimed responsibility. Damage at dealership.

    looks like they have had it off when it has been serviced and they have let it hit the fly wheel whilst running.
