    That's a memorable catch - and one of the few bycatches you might be happy with during the classic. There certainly didn't seem to be many big flathead around the usual deep haunts this year. Maybe they did their breeding early. The bottom east of swan bay has changed quite a bit - it is much shallower 41 ft compared to over 50 and it seems silted up as the jigheads weren't getting stuck in the clay like they usual would.

    was a strange classic this year like a lot of people we caught a lot of fish but could not find bigger fish, i suppose dropping an 80cm plus 5 minutes in on day one was a bad sign . I knew i should have put the 91cm i caught a few weeks ago in a crab pot and gone out each day to feed it until the classic
