Happiest Kid in the Brisbane River..

Well one thing I must remember is kids never forget anything. So after promising my nephew a trip to the brisbane river. My sister dropped him off the night before and we went through the safety rules. 1. No sillyness in the boat. 2.Do what the captain says.

Dropped in at pinkenbah around 6am, water was looking good and at the bottom of the tide. Launched the boat and headed out to the mouth for a few spots along the rock walls. Rigged up a stick for the nephew with a soft plastic and the set up the minn kotta to do my course.

Nephew was having a blast slow wind, little lift were his instructions.. Got a few bites and gets abit excited to which I explain that he lost the fish because he got to excited, slow and calm. Every now and again I would cast out towards the back of my drift and he would wind and lift. Gets a little bite and his rod is bending ever so slightly and he winds it in slow and calm. Up pops a little flatty, happy as

Off to a new spot and throw him out again, slow wind n lift I say.... I start casting away and drifting around setting up the course with the minn kota. He screams out I got one, I got one.. I thing yeah.. let him go and away he winds... he gets a good kick from the fish and it starts ZZZZZZ I was thinking crap, he has a nice fish here... and he cranks along slow and calm....

I laugh as he is nearly pulled over the side when it realised it was caught
heading away from the boat, he gets her up next to the boat and I net the fish thinking to myself thats 2-0 to my 8 yr old nephew Put the fish on the mat and she went 60cm. Great morning on the water and made my nephews day. Also had him on the gurni when we got home, can't go fishing in the boat if we don't clean it!

    cheers Mossy

Good story, you will be the favourite uncle now! How's the new boat going? It is getting plenty of use by the sounds of it.

        Regards,

        Richo

Does the young fella have a hungry eye for a boat yet? I bet ya he'll be counting his sleeps before the next trip. Look's like you've started something. Well done on your coaching methods...Golden. Top day out.
          Cheers
          Gavin.

Gavin -Well he loves the boat, but the cleaning of the boat not so much as he was rather keen to run off and play x-box, but no clean boat no more trips. He just looses focus sometimes. Much like his uncle.

Richo - New boat is awesome, love it to bits. Makes the estuary fishing so much easier + the bow mount. Don't know how I lived without it.

MudRDan - mate it was more of the turtleback never fails! hehehe
              cheers guys.

Top effort. I love taking the kids out fishing. The look on their faces when they hook up is priceless. Teaching them to cast, net and drive the boat is your next challenge.

                Well done,

                Steve
I am so happy to wake up in the morning.

Well done uncle Mossy. He will be telling all his mates at school on Monday! I took my nephew out once. Went offshore and he threw up within minutes. Never seems to want to go anymore

I have never seen you so wrapped and proud of the young bloke. It was a pleasure to see. Young bloke kicked my butt ,I didn't lose a livie .....Good idea hitting the river for a quick hit and out before that wind came thro.. I watched you two heading back to the ramp with the young bloke sitting beside you with that big smile... Gotta be 10 times better than a play station LOL

Mossy No Clean Boat....No More Trips....then maybe some X box?? Hmm.. I reckon he will put that together pretty quickly. Once again top coaching Mossy.
Till next session stay upright and dry folks.

hey mate. looks like another successful mossy charter trip - fish for the crew whilst the skipper works hard to put em on and comes up empty handed. couldn't have planned it better mate. only one thing beats the kids catching the top fish and thats them catching all the fish lol. sure as heck beats getting done by your mate tho. have to catch up for another sesh mate when the cyclone blows away.
                        cheers

Steve - he was already one step ahead of me asking about the rabbit n turtle on the engine, rabbit goes fast mate so what you think the turtle does... hehehe they are like sponges.
Lumpy - hehe don't think he is ready for offshore just yet.
Chief - Couldn't wipe the smile off his face all afternoon and I will admit I was pretty stoked as well. Like Davo says its always nice when mossy's charters can put his crew on to a fish or two.
Gavin - he worked out what the go was pretty quick, my problem is going to be keeping him out of the boat but a plus is I can always get him soft plastics for x-mas instead of x-box/sony games. Everybody wins.
Davo - always happy to put my mates on to the fish, just the kind of guy I am. And Davo your right mate I could of got out done by a mate who fishes squidgies
