Where will you be launching from Mav? It's quite a way from one end to another.

hi mate, it's really no different to many other estuaries. fish light, use fresh bait, steer clear of busy activity, drift the banks and drops and stay stealthy. try to find some dirtier water.

ive always found what ever local bait you can cast, dig or pump to be the best.
find any drop off and fish as light as you dare.
drift for flatties, berly for bream & super quite for whiting.
& snapper thats a whole different ball game grasshopper.

There is plenty of structure in the Passage and feeder creeks that begs attention. Find some exposed stuff at low tide and be ready for the influx of fish with the incoming water. They will feed hard and fast as soon as the water is deep enough for them to safely enter. I find drifting over sandbanks to be not very productive, try drifting between the sandbanks in the shallow gutters, they hold more fish feeding on what comes off the banks.

mav, don't go anywhere and expect to be straight onto a heap of table fish without putting in some quality time. elimbah creek probably fishes just like anywhere else in the passage. just use the basic estuary methods outlined by a few people above and you'll have some fun. after a few trips you'll get more consistent and be catching more dinner than donuts. look for the drops, the structure, the gutters, the banks, the bait and keep things nice and quiet.

personally, i'm into whiting fishing, i like drifting flooding banks for fish and fish the drops off the edges of banks into dirtier/deeper bits that provide better cover for the bigger fish, usually i'll pick up flatties as bycatch over edges. it's all pretty basic and it can all be found in the passage, just get in there, stay quiet and give it a go.

thanks paddles i have fished there a while back i was just drifting right up against the banks with my little tinny and dropping the line straight down and letting it drag on the bottom caught some nice bream and flathead. but i heard the banks have changed up there since the floods some one told me that it is even shallower than before i dont no weather this is true or not ???
