i havnt posted on here in a long time so i thought i might share some of my recent catches.
well chris and i decided to do a live bait session last night for something different
so we went and got some live bait and we headed on our way it was about 9pm we got to the "Y" spot we will call it. and we set up and and got the lines in the water. 5mins into it chris's rod gets a couple of thuds then nothing then the same with my rod but nothing. we re-baited and sat down and had a beer then 'ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ' it was my rod and once again nothing bout 30mins went by then we finally got a hook up but it was only a bream not what we where after then not long after chris got one as-well a good hour went by and a few beers 'ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz' splash my rod went in the water me and chris sat there for a second with amazement then chris yelled quick get your rod i jumped in the water and retrieved it to find my leader knot had snapped and my reel had a salt bath. it went dead for a while and we where talking about what that last take could of been.after a while we said we will give it 15-20mins then chris said i had few bites and i thought nothing of it then i picked the rod up to check the livey and i could feel something on the end of my line so i set the hook then my reel went absolutely nuts 'YES IM ON' it would of taken at-least a good 100m of line then it stopped i started reeling in and it was like a dead weight the i could feel a few thuds and it was off again and it wasnt going to come in. it was going from left to right then back again all in all it took a good 10mins to bring in and this was the end result.
it went 89cm and it was a solid fish
thanks to chris for taking me out to this spot and for getting my first giant hering
and another one
well yesterday chris.c and i met up with wayne and brett they headed off 30 earlier than us why we mucked round well we got to the place where we where going to try and wayne and brett where doing abit of trolling nothing much happend and we hung around abit but they headed off trolling again and on there return a decent school of trevors busted up and we all casted in but only brett hooked up but lost it at the boat we persisted with top water and then chris hooked up my broke him off after that we had a few hits but no hook ups i myself ended up getting a small queen fish.
the next day me and chris decide to head out and do abit of top water at the start it was slow and the bream where very timid and the day progressed they started hitting the lures hard nothing big by all means but was consistent. chris also ended up getting some very small talior only about 7-8cm then we turned to plastics and we got a couple more bream and a few flatties after awhile we decided to move out in the main channel and few more bream and flatties where landed and just at the end of the drift i put in a cast right off a ledge and bang! had abit of a run to it and it was hanging deep then we got to see what it was and it was a jack not big only bout 30-35cm but it was my first and i was happy and it was the first of the season for the both off us and he was released with ease..
cheers nick
