Any end to the snot weed around pumistone passage ?

    hi all,

Just joined, great site by the looks of it,Anyway, down to business,Does anyone know when the current run of snot weed/weed will leave our river system, its been a frustrating few weeks around pumistone-toorbul-caboolture river and anywhere within a tides reach of moreton due to all the horrible weed.It seems i cant escape it anywhere and has totally shut down my bread and butter species - Flathead.

i was on a magic winter run of flathead until it hit a month ago.

Its impossible to throw a plastic, and just as impossible to fish bait due to the currents bringing it in.

Where is it coming from and why ?, can someone asnwer that.

    When will it clear ?

    Adam

Sorry mate can't answer for the caboolture but it was thick as hell in the broadwater last weekend. Dont even think about throwing a crabpot in as i foolishly did. 8 pots dissapeared in a matter of minutes due to the rotten stuff. Found them a long way from where we put them the next morning covered in 50kg of weed each. Ben

I Fished the Pine today. Almost all gone now - just a tiny bit near the top of the tide.

i last fished the caboolture on father's day and it was still very weedy. interestingly i fished the maroochy river last week and there's no weed at all in it.

I fish the passage last week not much in some places, other spots it was a little thicker, had no worries throwind plastics around bucklies, the bridge, or white patch.

I hit Hussey creek yesterday and the slime was still about but fishable. Did not get a single bite however, despite a lot of nice baitfish being spooked almost continually.
