Advice for Bream on soft plastics or hardbodies - Sunny Coast
Hi all,
I'm chasing any advice for catching bream on soft plastics or hardbodies. I'm based on the Sunny Coast and would like any tips on techniques for catching bream or even what to look for when searching for a good bream spot. I usually fish the passage or Mooloolah river but if anyone has any suggestions I'm happy to travel.

Re: Advice for Bream on soft plastics or hardbodies - Sunny Coast
hey mate havent had any luck with bream on SP's but i hear the 2" grubs and prawns work well although sadly not for me. For bream in general always look for structure somewhere they can hide or feed off the oysters. With hardbodies ive have much luck with the berkley sub dog in pilchard colour i think the actual colour is called slumdog but yeah this has given me much luck as you use it either as a sp with the let it hit the bottom flick flick or a slow roll either work fine but cant help you with locations mate i fish down the coast. I hope i have helped mate good luck with your en devours
cheers grant

G,day dazyz1
Presuming you fish in a boat and not land based i would suggest fishing the canal systems on the mooloolah, and give the trawler wharfs a shot aswell. Not much run in the canals so fish as light as possible 1/60-1/40th hidden weight heads,2" berkley shrimp and 3"gulps,color can change from day to day but any of the popular colors will suffice.Keep your leaders to a minimum aswell 4-6lb max.You need to fish as close to the pontoons and boats as your casting skills will allow, and look for the shady corners,in between mored boats and the pontoons are the key spots, and look for some of the older jettys with growth.I wont divulge my favourite canals but i find the kawana side to be more productive, some fish better than others but ive caught fish in all of them.As far as hb's go,i fish them working in close to the corners of the jettys and pontoons, and run them parellell to the boats, right up tight with a nice slow rolling action and dont be scared to work the open water between each pontoon.I would also suggest a bit of surface fishing, with the weather warming up its great fun.I have found autumn/early winter best times but there are resident fish theer all year round. As far as the wharfs go,you need to fish a little heavier, leaders not to bad but go up in head size according to the run in the tide, beware of trevor and jack, ive been smoked there on a number of occasions, some monster bream aswell, but there well fed.Think about the main points, light as
possible, structure, shade, stealth and dont be in a hurry,if your confident there are fish there, move slowly and fish thoroughly.Hope this helps a little and hope you nail a few mate.Good luck.
Cheers,Gav.
