    Anchor winch motor

Anyone here know much about electric motors? I have a problem with my anchor winch. I have checked all the common thing that would cause it to fail. Made sure the batteries are 100% charged the wiring to the winch is good the switch is good. But still when you use the winch it will start pulling the anchor for 30-40 seconds then start slowing down and stop as if the batteries are flat. But they are not still showing fully charged and they start the boat motor and run all the other equipment on the boat. The batteries are 2x 2 month old Century marine pro models.
Anyone have any ideas, or is it possible the motor on the winch is on its way out. Anyone knows someone that would be able to test the motor around Brisbane.
    Thanks.

    What sort of winch?
Some have a bronze bush or similar in the ends (instead of a bearing race) and when they wear out the motor kinda shorts out ie poling.
Find some one with a DC ammeter that clamps over the wire to the motor and it's easy to see what current the motor is drawing.
Really easy to pin-point the problem with ammeter as well if the problem is not in the motor.
If it's the end bushes then simply replace. Might as well replace the brushes or brush cap/plate too while it's all pulled apart

What size motor (watts) and what size cable are you using? The symptoms you've described indicate undersized cables. As they heat up, the cable resistance resistance increases, acting to reduce voltage at the winch motor and causing it to run slower. The more you try, the hotter the cable gets, and the problem worsens.

Well the issue was the motor on the winch, replaced it and now as good as new, pulling the anchor up with no problems and much faster. Thanks for all the advice.
